In a matrix organization, subject matter experts (SMEs) might not share technical knowledge effectively due to the lack of daily contact with each other. This structure often leads to SMEs being spread across different projects and functional areas, which can reduce their opportunities for regular interactions. Effective knowledge sharing typically relies on frequent communication and collaboration. When SMEs are isolated from their peers or have irregular contact, they may miss out on important discussions and knowledge updates that would normally occur in a more cohesive environment.
